A Locked Heart
The locking happens when a decision is made to NOT feel rather than feel hurt or pain.
Unfortunately, when locked, the person is not free to be all God wants them to be. This locking even limits joy, peace, and love. In joy, peace and love lies a connection to pain, grief and sadness.
Man and woman, in the beginning before the fall, did not know pain, grief and sadness. Remember, not even nakedness or shame. Their eyes were closed to those things because the Father wanted them to only know love. Adam and Eve walked face to face with the Father, reliant and trusting every word from Him. When the twisted invitation came to reach for something else, apart from the sacred voice of the Father to meet a need, the cracking, then ultimately the breaking happened. The wholeness of a relationship with their Creator severed. Pain, grief, sadness, self-provision, and self-protection took its place. Let us be clear, the Father did not leave his children unattended or forsake them. He pursued, called out to them and was the one who made them garments to wear as a covering. The trajectory from that time forward was life now sharing in the trials and tribulations of the world. But God, in His infinite wisdom, had a plan. Wholeness was bought back. Not by the disobedient or one who was seduced by the twisted invitation. Nope, not even by the perpetrator. Wholeness was bought back by Himself, the Creator.
He had to come, walk in this life, feel pain, and have twisted invitations come to Him. He showed us that now we walk in this life a little differently but not separate from Him. We now have the Shepherd IN us, tending our every need. Now we remain IN Him as we walk THROUGH it.
Be of good cheer, He has overcome the world! We have assurance and comfort in this. Assurance and comfort are found in Jesus and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Going through hurt and pain without them puts us in a place of self-protection and self-provision. One of the many purposes of the gift of Holy Spirit and the promise of Him by our Good Shepherd is His tending. (tending: wait on as an attendant or servant) Holy Spirit tends to us. He heals, anoints, soothes, hugs, leads, feeds, and holds. We will, in this life, have difficulties, hurts and pain. It is whether we choose to go through them with or without our Savior. So, locking a part of our heart limits Him to tend to us. God never usurps our free will and will not come forcing the door open.
Unlocking and trusting Him with pain, grief and sadness enables us to experience and feel Him, the carrier of love, joy, and peace. Fully and without restrictions an unlocked heart can receive all the attention a good shepherd gives His sheep, and a loving Father has for His children. So, unlock your heart to feel, forgive, and repent. Be made whole, free and throw away the key!
